My company is interested in deploying an existing Windows application to remote users external to the company. The 2X solution seemed interesting, but the white papers and solution PDF haven't provided me with enough information to determine the full range of options.

Currently, we are using Citrix, but I'm interested in determining the following:

I'm assuming that a LiveCD is the thinnest client available as it doesn't touch the user's machine in any lasting way.

If this is the case, is there a next level at which an application can be streamed to the user without requiring a reboot / exit from their existing operating system? What is the minimal install and the security impact (ActiveX controls / JVM)?

Is there another, richer client that is available as a permanent install, or must a user start the LiveCD or the above mystery client?

thinclient live cd will require that the users be able to see and connect to a thinclientserver. and means there machines will act like thinclients.

you can simply install and use the ApplicationServer client and have the users connect and tunnel over ssl to your applicationserver gateway. this would be an easier and quicker solution to implement.
