Running 2X AppServer on a Windows 2003 Terminal Server with all the latest updates (MS and 2X). Is there a way to get the server to pull the user default printer's settings, so they do not always have to change their paper size? I cannot simply force the use of the 2X Universal as an application they run automatically prints reports to the client's default printer and if I had them go to the universal they would get over and over to save PDF files. Thanks
Donno if I understood you correctly but wouldn't setting the printer to emf solve your issue they can set the printing setting on the 2x universal printer and the settings should be saved per user?
Apparently 2X are working on this. We have similar issues with clients that have two printer 'instances' set up each with different default printer preferences (ie one printing A5 from tray 2 and the set to A4 and auto-select tray). Our application prints straight to the default printer when printing receipts and statements (which the clients usually print on A5). 2X Support have told me that they are in the process of making this work, but it's quite tricky due to the number of different printer models etc that it needs to work with. There is no ETA at this stage. The only real work around at the moment to make the local printer preferences 'stick' is to use the PDF option in the 2X client. But then they are left with a PDF on their screen after the job has printed which is annoying. Support have given me a registry key to try out which is supposed to make the printer preferences pop up after you select the local printer and hit print, but it's not working for me at the moment. I will update this thread when I have more info. Cheers, Lukas.
