Downloaded latest official update this week ... Coherence Mode no longer works. VM Desktop refuses to disappear. Anyone else experiencing this? Ideas about fixes?

    Would appreciate a reply

Still have this problem ... with Coherence switched on, the VM desktop does not hide as it should. Would appreciate any thoughts.

    New information

Okay, here is what I have figured out. Since installation build 5160, I am unable to use Coherence at all. The VM is stuck in Single Window, and won't budge. I have tried reinstalling, but it made no difference.

    Thoughts?

I have experienced this problem too. It really frustrates me that the "plug and pray" disease of the Windows world is foisted upon my Mac world. This is ridiculous Parallels! Get your act together and don't bother us with faulty upgrades that turn out to be a downgrade!!

    Even worse

Now my systems runs as slow as a dog sled running through mud! Boy, Parallels, you really screwed up this one. Now, how the hell do I get back to where things were. Are you going to post a "Rescue a crappy updgrade" upgrade?

    A fix

After reading through numerous posts in various subforums about problems with this latest build, I came across a solution. The problem was that Parallels was unable to install Parallels Tools, because of an autoplay setting in Vista. Seems that Vista sees the Parallels Tools installation program as a CD-ROM, and you have to have Vista set up to autorun/install program CDs. Went to Control Panel, changed that setting, and was able to install Parallels Tools ... which then fixed the problem with Coherence.

No idea why Vista suddenly had a problem with this build, but that's what fixed it.
