Thanks gegervision! Here's another one. Do I need to uninstall build 1970 in order to install 3186? In either case, will the Windows OS that I have running in Parallels survive installing the new Parallels version or will I have to re-install Windows too? How stable is 3186 vs. 1970?
Hy at all Yesterday i had install the new version (build 3186 german) of parallels desktop for mac. I can't switch to the coherence mode. I installed the parallels tools new, but i doesn't work. whats the problem? can anybody help me? thanks
uninstall, reboot the virtual mchine, then reinstall parallels tools... that usually fixes the problem.
i had uninstall and reinstall the parallels tools but the problem is no fixed. i had install a new win xp but ist also the same problem.
oh wait.. youre using the german version. i read another post here that the german version is (for some reason) missing the cohrence.exe file from the tools. This may be the problem. Anyone from Parallels confirm this ?
you can get this working by installing the US version of the parallels tools. here you can find the steps needed: http://endy.blogomat.net/?p=69 Now screen resizing and coherence works! Nils
Hello All, I have the same problem. I have the latest build, I have done a uninstall and reinstall of Parallels and still no dice. I noticed that a couple of posts up was mentioned "Parallels Tools". Is that different than just the Parallels app itself? If so where do I get that? The link to the instructions above is either down or block by our network folks here. I can't get to it. Any other place to get this info? I'm starting to get a little frustrated here. Here are the specs I working with: MacBookPro Core Duo 2 gigs ram 10.4.8 XP Pro That should do the trick!! Thanks John
Thank you very much it works! @sandpilot - download the english version (build 3186) - install this version - go to *macintosh hd* -> library -> parallels-> tools - copy the 4 files to another place -> desktop - reinstall the german version - start your vm - mount the file *vmtools.iso* from the desktop (mount from cddrive) - the parallels tools will be install now - restart you vm - now it should be work
nice ! I just thought the reinstall stuff would be to complicated and decided to "extract" the file - but if I read it now looks a little bit more mac conform - no terminal.... At least now i know how to deal with the Archive.pax.gz files and cpio - a nice look behind the scence for me ....
