Color Depth and Audio

I am in the process of testing ApplicationServer on 2008. I am having trouble getting a published desktop to display at more then 16bit color as well as not hearing any audio.

I have configured terminal services configuration for 32bit color depth and unchecked (allowed) audio in the client settings tab. I have also ensured that the farm options experience settings tab is set to LAN which allows all. The published desktop screen size is set to Full Screen so that it is not windowed for users (who will be using published desktop full time). And in the farm options resources sound is set to 'bring to local computer' and colour depth is 24bit.

Any ideas on anything I may be missing here?

    Hi,

    re: color depth

Our client only allows color depth up to 24bit ... and it loads at 16bit as you have said. I have tested this with microsoft rdp client (both on 16 and 24bit color) and the result was the same.

Moreover, I have changed color depth to 32bit from msrdp client and it loaded perfectly. It seems that there might be an issue with the 24bit color depth from windows 2008. From 2x side, we will add an option to allow 32bit color depth which will be available in our next 6.1 build, soon in beta.

    re: sound

I done tests and sound was working properly. I will give time and look in this matter

    Hi Segi,

Wanted to return a quick post to this topic. The sound was my fault. I forgot to enable the Audio service.

As for the color depth issue then, are you saying this does in fact appear to be a bug either with x2 or rdp or the two in conjunction with each other?

it is not a bug from 2x :) we just didn't cater for the 32bit color depth as yet, since 2008 wasn't released/tested when we launched v6 in january, we couldn't know this issue for 24bit color depth

in fact, as I said, if you try to use MSRDP client at 24bit you still get 16bit, so it looks like the 2008 server doesn't accept 24bit anymore. As for our client, this will be implemented in 6.1. I am afraid you will not be able to get more than 16bit when using our client until the 6.1 release.

    color

When do you plan to release v 6.1 ?
We are having the "only 16 color depth" problem when connecting to both windows 2008 and windows 2003.

    Best regards
