Can I use 'dd' or some other utility to convert a .hdd file to an actual unix binary file? Thanks.

Hello there. We do not recommend performing such operations - usage of third-party applications on the virtual machine file or on any of its components may result in file corruption.

Thanks for the response. So does that mean there is no way to get a .hdd virtual disk image back onto a physical HDD?

Are you trying to convert/map a virtual hard disk file (the .hdd file) into an actual, physical hard drive?

Yes. Is that possible, to migrate .hdd virtual disk image to a physical disk and boot and run off that disk?

The feature/functionality you are referring to does not exist with Parallels Desktop. We have the means to convert a physical Windows hard disk into a virtual hard disk, not the other way around.
