I have a full backup of a HD taken in linux (dd if=/dev/hdx of=hdx.img (I have the plain partition (hdx1) that I need, too as an image)). The question is, how do I convert this real HD image to a VM image? I have tried Transporter, Image Tool etc. None of them understand the real HD image that I have. How can I convert this?

    Thanks.

PS: The disk is from an 486DX4 laptop, no transporter SW installation/firewire/network there. Just a broken floppy drive and RS-232 :) Actually the disk is so old, that modern chipsets can't understand that veryfirst ATA/IDE standard anymore.. I was surprised o_O

You can rename the extension of that file to the hdd and try to connect it to VM. Parallels Server should convert it to its format.

Also, you should set Chipset=815 in the system flags section in the Hardware->CPU setings.
