Hello. I have ben trying out linux on my old laptop and have come to the conclusion that I would like to install it on my desktop. My desktop is running Windows XP Pro sp2. What I would like to do is remove Windows completely, install Linux, Parallels then reinstall Windows as a VM. However, I am a little timid in doing so. Also, I do not want to lose my configurations for windows.

Is it possible to create a backup of my hard drive prior to removing windows, install linux and parralels (trial version (how long is the trial good for?)), then restore my windows backup to the VM? If so, what would be the best process? Also, if I run into problems, how would I restore my desktop to it's original configuration (windows without parralels or linux)

    Thanks for any information.
