Couple questions from Perspective Buyer

During my evaluation I have a couple questions that have come up.

First of all, is it possible to remove the connector graphic that is visible during the initial connection to a published resource? It seems that once this initial connection is established to the TS server and if the sessions remains active any further connection does not experience this. If the application is closed the session is then logged off the server and the process repeats. How can we extend the session timeout so if an application is closed it will not have to re-establish and hence display the graphic and keep further connections very quick. This does not appear to be an idle session config on the TS servers as I have increased timeouts to hours.

Second question, when using multiple monitors on a client that launches a published application, the app spans both monitors during connection to the server. How can we prevent this?

So far like what we see, as feature rich as the options we are using with Citrix with a quarter of the footprint and extremely easy and simple administration.

    Hi wilsonc,
    For no. 1:
You can do this, Farm-> Select the server-> properties-> modify your default publication session timeout.
    Default is 25 secs.
It means, if the user closes all the applications and DOES NOT LOG OFF, the session of the user in the selected server will be deleted after 25 secs.
So, you have to set it to NEVER or increase this publishing timeout.

    For no.2:
2X AppClient-> Farm properties-> advanced settings-> you will see two options
    1. Use primary monitor only for published applications.
    2. Span desktops on all monitors.
    Uncheck 2.

    Regards,
    Tom

Thanks Tom! That answers my questions. I found the first setting but Im unclear where the option is for #2. I searched the all the options on the client (version 6.2 build 528) and I did not see a farm setting. I do see a 'Span desktop on all monitors monitors' under the advanced tab for connection properties but its currently unchecked. I did not see anything on the server for this either.

Maybe Im looking in the wrong location.

    Thanks

    Hi wilsonc,
sorry, farm settings was on the previous version.
You are right on the spot, advanced settings-> and those options.
If they're not working you better contact the support directly(via email).
I don't have multi monitor environment here. But I guess it relates to some default settings on terminal server.

I hope you will share the answer here.

    Regards,
    Tom

I have also experienced the dual monitor issue and I cannot stop it happening in a satisfactory way.

    Test
    1. Use primary monitor only for published applications. On
    2. Span desktops on all monitors. Off
    Result
App opens in primary(left) monitor correctly but cannot then drag it to onto extended (right) monitor

    Test
    1. Use primary monitor only for published applications. Off
    2. Span desktops on all monitors. Off
    Result
App opens between the monitor 3/4 on left monitor 1/4 on right

The funny thing is that Office 2007 apps work fine.

Any ideas or a support call already been placed?
