Suddenly my Parallels started creating snapshot but never ends... I intentionally keep power on for two days, still creating snapshots. VM size is 29GB and free space is 80GB. I exclude VM folder in Time Machine. I force quit parallels and restart, still creating snapshot. Should I wait for another days? Is there any way I can stop this? help - same problem. Hi, i'm having the same problem. Parallels 8 on an xserve running mountain lion server 10.8.2 as the host OS. Windows server 2003 for the guest os, with two large virtual hard drives (about 300gb). been running fine for a couple of weeks. snaps shots have been working fine. but this morning, i see it's working feverishly to create a new snapshot. It appears to have started at 4am, 8 hours ago. it's at 72%. two hours ago, it was at 68%. The status is "Deleting Snapshot...". At the bottom of the screen, it says "Data Synchronization..." It seems to be making a little progress, so i'm scared to force it to quit. but at this rate, it'll take weeks. this is a server and i need it up now! Please, anyone who's seen this, post your comments here. should i leave it to cook for the rest of the day, or force quit the app and hope it boots up ok? f'ing auto snapshots - should have turned that off.
news flash... after 24 hours, it FINISHED SUCCESSFULLY!!!! no one more surprised than I. I happened to catch it just as it finished, and was able to turn off Snapshots. I did not resort to force-quitting it. not sure what would have happened if i had. corrupt the vm? start at 1% on relaunch? who knows. i'm just glad it's working now. those of you experiencing this, please share your experiences.
I'm now waiting 5 hours on a macpro to use my vm. I deleted the first of 3 snapshots on a small OS X SL server. Waited 4 1/2 hours and killed parallels. Restarted applic and still deleting snapshot. NOt happy with this product. Not happy about absence of firewire support either. Thay won't get me to pay out for their too-frequent payable upgrades either.
Sorted Creating snapshot taking forever Right - Killing Parallels Desktop and restarting the process does not work - you get back where you were - probably waiting for n hours. Killing the Parallels VM, selecting it again in Parallels and then using the snapshot manager to delete a later snapshot seems fine - it only takes a few seconds to do this. Shouldn't happen in the first place though.
