I've found a couple of issues with the Parallels provided Debian 8 package : 1. printing is hosed up - attempting to create a printer in Debian gives an error message about printing package not installed. 2. Debian updates tend to break the Parallels tools install. Unfortunately the "Reinstall tools" part of Parallels seems to be borked somewhere. Even trying to reinstall from the virtual CD via terminal gives an error message about "redirection unexpected" or some such nonsense. I'd say that unless you REALLY have to use Debian stick to Ubuntu or Mint (both Debian derivatives). YMMV
