parallels and bootcamp, block in step4 parallel tools install?
Hi all,
Ok sorry apparently I managed to do it and even tweeking around to chose the right IDE for the hard drive and it seems everything is working or almost (see old message below).
Now it is blocked for half an hour in step 4, installing parallels tools (the progression bar seems to show the process is finished but it's still configuring...). Curiously zonealarm appeared in macOSX doc and it seems it is blocked after that. Is it possible that the zonealarm that I installed previously in boot camp partition on my windows xp sp2 is blocking anything? (I also installed antivir there)
If it really never ends, what can I do? "shut down"?
thank you for any help
old message:
I just purchased parallels 4.0. I have a new macbook pro 17¨ with latest leopard and installed XP on an NTFS partition using bootcamp. I configured the computer so that default start is on mac, installed antivir and zonealarm in windows XP (sp2) and that's all.
Then I run parallels CD, it says there is a newer version that I doanload and install. The first time it added automatically a bootcamp.vm and tried to use it. However it did not recognize hard drive 1 and was stuck. I saw somewhere in the forums I could try to remove the bootcamp.vm and try to do it again. problem: now it doesn't do it and just tries to create a new virtual machine using CD/DVD.... I tried to uninstall (using CD uninstall but it seems it doesn't uninstall everything such as the activation) and reinstall, but still the same.
1) How should I do to get back the virtul machine using boot camp partition?
2) If it still then is not able to use hard disk 1 to start windows, how should I do?
thanks for your help
Xavier
