Direct Mode, RDP, and acceleration

RDP natively does some software compression, but we are trying to use Cisco WAAS devices to improve the compression due to having some graphics-intensive applications.

We are testing direct mode where the client checks in with the load balancer and then directly connects via RDP (port 3389) to the Terminal Server. However, when connecting in this fashion we are not able to get compression like when we are directly connecting straight through RDP.

Has anyone tried this? Can anyone explain the "direct mode" connectivity path to help explain why I am not getting compression between the test clients and the Terminal Servers?

    Thanks

    Direct mode works

CLient connects to client gateway, gateway checks with pub agent , pub agent informs via client gateway which terminal server to connect to client gets IP information and port and connects directly to terminal server (no gateway involved)

So the connection is then direct client to terminal server
