Add me to the long list of folks with this problem: SCSI controller is not installed Network bootrom is installed. Trying to boot from primary master IDE drive... a disk read error occurred press ctrl+alt+del to restart I've read many threads and see that nobody seems to have come up with a workable solution. So here's where I am now: Like others the problem occurred after my MacBook locked up and had to be forcefully shut down. So - I first upgraded Parallels 6 to Parallels 7. Still the same problem. Tried booting XP off the disk but the same errors continued. So I reinstalled Windows to a new virtual machine XP 1. And XP 1 works fine. Problem is, everything I need is in XP and I can't access it. Any ideas how I can get programs and data out of XP and into XP 1?
Me too After 2 years of struggling unsuccessfully with Bootcamp on my MacBook Pro, I finally got rid of the partition and installed Parallels. Have spent the day installing Windows 7 Ultimate then about a dozen Windows apps and all was going fantastically well ... until I had to do a hard reboot ... then the dreaded Disk Read Error appeared! Aargh. I found these threads here but after hours of trying things, no luck. I run Lion 10.7.4 and a Solid State Drive and do not know what Location to use for the SSD Hardware Configuration. It is showing 4 IDE options, 6 SATA options and 15 SCSI options. I can't see any helpful SSD info in the About This Mac area. Have tried just about all of the options without success. Can anyone help? Many thanks, Brian from Brisbane
