Do I install Windows on Bootcamp before Parallels Desktop 9 if I want bootcamp option

Hi all,

I am new to Parallels Desktop and to Bootcamp for that matter.

I'd like to setup my machine so I can choose either Mavericks or Windows 8 to boot into on start up.

Do I need to install Bootcamp and Windows 8 before I install Parallels?

I read somewhere that you can set it up so that the bootcamp Windows 8 is the same as what you run from Mavericks Parallels Desktop 9 virtual machine WIndows 8 etc


Or can I install Parallels install Windows then get bootcamp to point to that installation?

Any help would be great

You would first need to install Windows on your Bootcamp partition and then install Parallels Desktop for Mac.
