Do you need to upgrade RDP for full speed with 2008 server?

    Hi there,

On a Windows XP Pro machine, do you need to separately upgrade to RDP6.0 in order to take full advantage of the performance of Terminal Services on Windows Server 2008?

Or, does the 2X AppServer client include its own RDP6.0 type functionality, meaning no upgrade is required?

i.e. Would a Vista PC running RDP6.0 client experience better performance than an XP Pro PC running RDP 5.2 when they're both connected to the same 2008 TS?

Thanks in advance for any info!

    Hi,
yes if you want to have all the functionalities such as resolution support, better to install the latest remote desktop client.

Thanks for that. Certainly makes sense, however, on the specific subject of speed, is RDP 6.0 required to take advantage of these performance benefits with Server 2008?

    Thanks

    Hi,
Yes, you need RDP6 to get full advantage of RDP functionality.
