I'm using Parallels Desktop 5.0.9344 for Mac, with a WinXP guest OS. I am a software engineer, so I use WinXP to do development which requires Windows. I currently have an issue which I suspect is a result of an issue with Parallels. I have two programs which I use in Windows, one is called "TestTrack Pro", the other is called "Perforce P4V". When I run either of these the first time I boot up my WinXP, I have noticed that two processes for the application will be created. For example, when I run "Perforce P4V", I will see two "p4v.exe" processes running. Within 2-3 minutes, one of these processes will begin doing some sort of heavy work, and hog the CPU by running around 99% of the CPU usage. This duplicate process never ends. I have let it run for a long time, and the CPU usage will remain at 99% for the lifetime of the process. So, I am forced to manually kill that duplicate process. This process appears to be independent of the process running the GUI, since after killing the duplicate process I can interact with the application normally, and everything runs fine from that point on. I first noticed this problem with the "Perforce P4V" application, so I initially thought this was an issue specific to that application. However after seeing this exact same issue occur with the "TestTrack Pro" application, and never having these kinds of problems when I ran them on non-virtual machines, I suspect that this is an issue with Parallels. I don't remember exactly when this issue started occurring, but I did upgrade to version 5 at some point. Has anyone seen this issue before? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
