I searched the forums and found some similar topics, but nothing that seemed to match what I'm having a problem with...though I did try a few of the suggestions and nothing worked. Most of those solutions were for Vista or previous versions of Parallels. DVDs play just fine on my Mac. Once I open up Parallels and run windows, nothing can seem to fully utilize my DVD drive. One program in particular (Magic DVD Ripper if you really care) has two different errors depending on what I am trying to do. If I am trying to open up a DVD to rip it to the hard drive it says, "There are not any DVD files in the source directory. Please select correct source." But the source is the DVD drive and it even has the correct name of the DVD. If I am trying to make a backup copy of the DVD it tells me, "Driver authentication failed! Please click the Refresh button". Clicking refresh does nothing but bring up the same error. VLC viewer appears to be trying to play the DVD, but only a blank green screen shows up, the time ticks across, and there is no sound. I thought it sounded like a driver issue but I have completely struck out trying to find an updated driver. Besides, I think whatever driver is on my Mac is fine...as an added bonus, this all worked perfectly before I decided that I had installed my Virtual Machine in the wrong place. It used to reside just under my user name on the Mac--I had missed the little check box that lets you put it where all users of the Mac can access it. So I uninstalled the Virtual Machine (that was working perfectly, dammit), and installed a new one...installed Windows 7 just like I had before...and now i have this random problem where I can't use the DVD drive on the Windows Machine. Other things I have tried: I tried reinstalling Parallels Tools I tried disconnecting and reconnecting the CD/DVD drive in the configurations. I would appreciate ANY help or suggestions. I am running Parallels 6 for Mac, just checked and there are no updates. Build 6.0.11994 (Revision 637263; February 17, 2011) Windows 7 is fully updated, including Service Pack 1 (not that it matters, this was happening even before updates). I'm experiencing the same problem on my Windows 10 PC after with Magic DVD Ripper 10.0.1 after having installed 2023-10 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5031356). Magic DVD Ripper has been working flawlessly up until this update. As JenniferD noted, my experience is the same now - the error is "Driver Authentification failed! Please click the Refresh button" and clicking the Refresh button has no effect. (Gotta love that spelling error in the error message.)
