Equipment: IMac with parallels 3.0 build 5608 and WinXP SP3; also installed Nero 8.

Problem: CD/DVD drive within parallels will not recognize a blank DVD. I insert DVD and it is ejected after about 10 seconds. I tried several different DVD's (same mfgr) thinking it was a bad DVD, but no change. DVD movies play with no problem in Parallels. I don't have a problem with blank DVD's under the MAC OS environment.

I ran Nero info tool and the drive is indicated to have both DVD-R and DVD+R writing capability.

    Any suggestions for a fix?

    Thanks,

    Edmond

Can you please check that in configuration editor it is set Enabled and connect at startup is selected, and also there is no CD related software is running at the same time in Windows

I set the drive in the configuration editor to "enabled" and "connected at startup".

I am running Nero 8 as the DVD burning program. Does this qualify as a "CD related software"

I exited out of Nero 8 and tried to insert the blank DVD with nothing else running. No change. The DVD is ejected afer a few seconds.

I also tried a blank CD and everything works properly.

Try to delete CD-DVD from Device Manager in Windows restart VM, and reinstall Parallel Desktop

Thanks John. I am a little confused on your latest instructions. How do I start the VM without the parallels desktop. I though the two were the same.

I suggested to reinstall Parallels Desktop, after you delete CD-DVD from Windows device manager.
Delete cd-dvd from device manager, stop VM, reinstall Parallels Desktop,

However, can you please check how it will react on DVD-RW disk
