So I have a VM set up to start as soon as it is selected, which means that as soon as I launch Parallels I am prompted to select a VM, then once I select the VM it is immediately started. Great, so I cannot edit this VM's settings until I shut it down and am left with the Parallels window.

Well... this VM's settings are set to quit Parallels as soon as the VM is shut down.

Hmmm... there is no possible way to edit the VM settings. This is brilliant.

    Please help.

OK, the super hacky fix here is to edit the PVS file and change the value of AutoShutdown to 0 instead of 1, then when you start up Parallels, and your VM immediately starts, just click stop, then you will be able to edit the VM settings.

There should be an easier way.

Hold the command key when opening a VM to prevent the auto-start.

Excellent, I was freaking out for a little while there.
