Whenever I drag a file into the Virtual Machine's Windows XP desktop Parallels pops up asking me if I want to enable sharing of OS X folders in XP, I click No, and I tick don't 'show this message again' (or similar message), but every time I drag a file it shows me the same annoying dialog, I have already a User defined folder on my mac that I share with XP and I don't need to be annoyed over and over again with the same dialog.
It is by design, you cannot use drag and drop without that sharing, you need to click yes, or drag and droop will be unavailble
John, I said I already have a user defined folder shared, I don't want to share my home folder, I click 'No' and I still can drag and drop, so something's wrong. Update, now I clicked Yes and ticked the box and it did what I didn't want, which was it enabled Home folder sharing, turned it off , and now I can't drag a file from anywhere else except the desktop in OSX. Before I could drag from anywhere I would just had to click 'No' but after clicking No I could drag the file and it didn't turned on sharing of the Home folder. Like I said I want only one specific folder shared and the ability to drag and drop from anywhere without annoying messages.
Probably I am missing something, but this is by design, Shared folders should be enabled globally, and you can drug and drop in any place in Finder,
In PDM4, drag and drop is enabled in the Services, it's unrelated, or it appears to be with Shared Folders, that's a different setting, either the GUI is wrong or the the code is.
This is getting beyond annoying now, since I made the mistake of answering YES to the enable shared folders message and ticking the box now whenever I drag a file it automatically shares my home folder to Windows, WHICH I DO NOT WANT, if I remove the setting it automatically changes it whenever I drag n' drop. Worst, drag n' drop works from the desktop o OSX but not from a folder I have in 'Downloads' (it's not a problem with permissions, Downloads has the default permissions and this folder even has read-only to everyone). I only want a specific folder shared which is defined in the User Defined folders, I want drag n' drop enabled from anywhere, which is defined in the services settings. I had this working before clicking YES in the damn box, the only problem I had before and that was my first complain was the message box always popping up, I answered NO and the drag n' drop worked. I ticked the check box to no show the message again but the message appeared again, so there's definitely something wonky here, and don't give me that this is the default behaviour, if you thing that re-read again this post. I had to reset all the hidden messages to recover the behaviour I had before, which at least doesn't enable sharing of my home folder on the background, but I get the damn message every time I drag n' drop, but at least I can drag n' drop from ANY folder.
