I have installed an Windows XP VM under Parallels build 4.0.3810 and it refuses to join the domain.
On the networking within the VM I have set the DNS and WINS server to the address of the domain controller, additionally I have disabled windows firewall.

When I attempt to join the domain it doesn't even get as far as asking me for a domain account to validate and comes up with the following error:

    ========================================================================
Note: This information is intended for a network administrator. If you are not your network's administrator, notify the administrator that you received this information, which has been recorded in the file C:\WINDOWS\debug\dcdiag.txt.

The domain name mydomain might be a NetBIOS domain name. If this is the case, verify that the domain name is properly registered with WINS.

If you are certain that the name is not a NetBIOS domain name, then the following information can help you troubleshoot your DNS configuration.

The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location (SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain mydomain:

The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
    (error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)

The query was for the SRV record for _ldap._tcp.dc._msdcs.mydomain

Common causes of this error include the following:

    - The DNS SRV record is not registered in DNS.

    - One or more of the following zones do not include delegation to its child zone:

    mydomain
    . (the root zone)

Please try to set Networking for VM to Bridged Ethernet

    Fixed

Yes that worked, it joined the domain immediately after changing the network settings.
    Thanks

I am running into this error when trying to connect to my domain. I tried switching to all the different networking options in parallels 4.x Nothing is allowing me to connect to it. I am able to get out to the internet using shared networking only. Any thoughts?

    Thanks
