I have a CoolGear ExpressCard/34 to Parallel Port adapter.
The "Parallel Port" is for programming embedded systems like uCLinux.

For my host VM (WinXP), I did install the mac drivers that are normally distributed for WinXP using boot camp, so the ExpressCard slot in Windows should work. Then, I opened my guest VM (WinXP) and put in the card but the OS does not see it. Here is another problem, I don't have MacOS drivers but I do have the Windows drivers.

I was told today that ExpressCard was not supported in 2.x but is supported in version 3.0, so I bought the upgrade. However, the same problem exists. I can't "share" the device on the MacOS side because I don't have the drivers and I can't see the device on the Windows side. I am stuck.

How can I make it where anything plugged into the ExpressCard slot is seen only in Windows?

    Stacey,
The update is too old for my MacOSX version.
    I am running a MacBook Pro 15' verison 10.4.10.
Its a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo with 2GB of memory.

Should Parallels 3.0 support ExpressCard without sharing?
For example, the USB can be shared (loaded by MacOS) or not shared (loaded by guest OS). Does Parallels 3.0 support the ExpressCard as not shared? If so, maybe there is a special VM configuration to set it up.

    Thanks,
    Brad

    Hello,

unfortunately Parallels Desktop doesn't support ExpressCard. ExpressCard is not a USB-device that is why we cannot plug it to Parallels and we cannot emulate this device. There is only one way to use ExpressCard: to configure it in Mac and use Shared Network in Paralells.
    Sorry for inconvenience.

    Best regards,
    Stacey
