External display not visible within VM

I need to be able to access my HP E45c G5 display from my Windows 11 VM in order to be able to update its firmware. (HP doesn't care about Mac users, long story....)
However, when I look at the available displays I can only see "Generic Monitor Parallels Vu" and under display adapters only "Parallels Display Adapter (WDDM)".
This is strange because I can see all other physical devices connected to my Mac, such as microphones, speakers, audio interfaces and even those not directly connected such as local printers.
Any advice on what I need to do to be able to see the physical monitor rather than the "Generic Monitor Parallels Vu" would be appreciated.
