Ummm... Don't connect a wireless card or an external drive.

Workarounds: Shared networking. Connect the Mac to the Internet and select shared networking in VM properties, and connect in Windows as if to a LAN. The MBP has a built in wireless card, but even if you are using an external card, you have to set it up in OSX and share the connection.

External disks are not recognized by Parallels. You can put a virtual disk (.hdd file) on an external or internal disk and use it, or share the disk on the Mac and access it over the network, or use the Parallels shared folder facility.
