Hello there, I'm running Parallels 11 with Windows 10 on a MacBook Pro with OS X Yosemite 10.10.1 I use Virtual DJ on OS X, therefore I connect an external soundcard (Soundblaster) to the Mac. Additionally I use a DMX Control software for triggering the disco lights. This software only runs on Windows. In order to react to the music, it needs signals from the external sound card. PROBLEM: When I tell the virtual machine to use Soundblaster (connected to OS X), Windows doesn't show it on the list of available sound devices (although it uses it as output when I play some music!!!). Therefore my DMX Control cannot find the external sound card. When I connect the sound card to Windows, it appears on the list of available sound devices, everything works fine - but then of course Virtual DJ on OS X loses connection and cannot use it anymore. :-( Does anybody have an idea how I could solve this problem (besides installing Virtual DJ on Windows)? Thanks for your time Chris
Hi Chris, You don't need to install any 3rd party drivers into the Virtual Machine for the virtualized hardware (video card, sound card, network adapter, keyboard and mouse) as Parallels Tools package provides all needed drivers for these devices. Also there is no need to install any 3rd party software to provide VM networking. Installing 3rd party drivers for them may cause driver conflicts and unexpected problems with guest OS. To install Parallels Tools click on the "VM" item on the Mac menubar when you have VM with guest OS (Windows) running and you are logged into the system and select "Install Parallels Tools" option from the menu. If you're trying to plug an USB device to the VM, you should install drivers for it into the Guest OS. Thanks!
