I have been testing out Parallels recently, one of the items I've been working on setting up is FC6. I keep getting stuck with the screen resolution issue.

Basically, FC6 works great except for the fact that the screen resolution is 1600 x 1200 but my screen resolution is only 1280 x 800. This creates a bit of a usability problem. Reducing the resolution in the GUI results in unusuably scrambled video. I've edited my xorg.conf file manually and not been able to find an easy way to get to a lower, non-scrambled, working resolution.

Could somebody please post your working xorg.conf file from FC6? If not FC6, perhaps another similar Linux distribution so I can see what kind of black magic must happen.

While I don't have FC6, I can relate my experience with Solaris in a Parallels VM. Solaris installed fine, but defaulted to a resolution of 1600x1200 whereas my laptop can only handle 1024x768. I could boot to the desktop, but I couldn't see the bottom of the desktop to do anything with it. So I had to reboot solaris and then logged in to the console immediately, ran xorg-conf then edited xorg.conf directly to put 1024x768 first in all of the mode lines. Upon exiting the console, I finally could see much more of the Solaris desktop on my laptop but have to run it fullscreen to see everything now. Any other resolution make solaris unuseable so 1024x768 is the only working resolution I can use.
