Hello all, Still fairly new to the 2X scene, my company just deployed a brand new 2X server. While doing some internal testing using new computer setup procedures, I came to notice that one of the setup procedures is to not install MS Office locally on the machine, but instead use 2X. These are regular PCs, and not thin clients. When I plugged in a USB stick I then noticed that I won't be able to open MS Office files without the 2X app up, and only open them from the open menu in the app. Is there any way to set the file association to directly open the 2X client and log in and launch the proper application by simply double clicking on a file on the local machine? I would hate to have to install Office locally as well. Thanks!
if office is published, you need to assign the opening application as the 2X KickOff and it should open the relevant office app for you automatically
I set the association for .xlsx to the 2X Kick Off. Now it says no published item specified. I can plainly see Excel is published, but even before that it didn't even force a 2X log on. How do I set the 2X kick off to open to Excel?
Update already: New PCs will not have MS Office, but existing PCs do. I set the associations in 2X and it will work perfect on the machines that do not have MS Office installed, but the machines that have it installed locally, 2X overwrote the file associations in Windows. Now without having to go to each machine and reset the settings, or use GPOs can we prevent 2X from overwriting all the associations on certain machines?
Spectre, See my post from about 2 yr ago. There is not fix, but will give you a better idea. viewtopic.php?f=3&t=3507&hilit=File+Association+for+Laptops+%2F+Offline+Clients
