I'm new to the Mac world and I haven't installed Parallels (yet).

I know that in OSX, you can have a shared folder that can be seen in Windows, but can you do the same thing, only reversed? Have a shared folder under Windows and have OSX see that?

Yes, you can turn on file sharing in Windows and access your virtual machine from the host Mac. You can also do the same for web sharing or whatever else.

For example, if your VM IP address is 10.211.55.6, then you could access the VM's file sharing from the Mac by using Go -> Connect to Server (Command-K) in the Finder and entering the following URL:
    smb://10.211.55.6

If you use Bridged Networking instead of Shared Networking for the virtual machine's network adapter, then you could access the VM from any computer on your network.

There's also an option in Parallels to have all the partitions on your virtual hard disks to mount in the Mac's Finder so you could access them that way without using file sharing.
