I have Parallels 9 (9.0.24229) and am using it on a Macbook (Mavericks OS X 10.9.2 (13C1021)). The software I am using on it is NVIVO. I have been saving my Nvivo projects to my dropbox folder. I save regularly. I set up a new project in April - have been saving regularly. Have shut down and restarted my computer numerous times since then and it was still there etc. Today i had to restart windows after an update. I got an error message from nvivo recommending I save the project under a new name and compare projects when I restart. I restarted and my original project shows that the last time a file was modified in it was April 10 -so it looks as if nothing has happened since then- a months work has disappeared. I try to open the renamed version and can't locate it in the folder I saved it to on dropbox and a search using finder and explorer does not find it but it does show up in the windows start menu under recent nvivo files but the file can't be found. I check in drop box for previous versions (it keeps the last 30 days) - and it also shows the last modification as being 10th of April so even though i have been saving regularly it has either not been saving or is saving it somewhere where I can't find it. I have searched using finder and explorer for all nvivo files and the only file from my project I could find that was more recent than April was a corrupt temp file from last week (C:\Users\fionah\AppData\Local\Temp). I have sent that to nvivo in the hope they can restore something. I have the feeling this is something to do with parallels - I previously had a pc and have worked with nvivo using the same approach of saving to dropbox (because I have multiple work locations). I have never had any problems similar to this before. Is this something I haven't understood about parallels and where/how it saves documents? I would really appreciate any advice anyone has- this is a significant amount of work i've lost. And please don't give me lots advice about better backing up processes. thanks
