OK, y'all... I have seen this done, but the explanation goes way over my head. There is a way of sharing Firefox's bookmarks over a network so two or more computers can access the single bookmarks.html file. The advantage for US, would be if we run Firefox-Mac and Firefox-Windows. Both my Firefox programs have bookmarks with the same content, but it is not an automatic thing. I manually update both bookmarks.html files. Here is an article I found: http://ilias.ca/blog/2006/04/customize-firefox-bookmarks-location.html We would have to go through our shared folder to do this. Do y'all think this is doable??? Actually, I'm hoping somebody has already done this.
Google sync for sharing bookmarks Try google sync (just search google for it). It allows you to share bookmarks among a number of different computers (I am using it to share among 4 right now.) It is simple, and approximates the functionality of isync on the mac.
Here's the link for Google Browser Sync for Firefox: http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/browsersync/ I ran into a lot of errors using it - script problems, connection problems, etc.
Wow, guys... thanks! I just knew that someone has tried this, but I still wonder if we can link up through the shared of folders, but if ''google browser sync'' would work...! When you say you ''ran'' into a lot of errors using it, was that truly past-tense. I mean, was it a set up issue? Is everything ok now?
I installed it on my Mac system, Windows system, and Parallels system and had problems. I believe Google was experiencing a server problem at the time, as they do from time to time. Once I finish setting up my Parallels system and transferring my files over I'll give it another shot.
Well, for me, at least over here in Texas, in this moon phase, at this point in time, it works! Works perfectly! What a novel idea this is!!!! Even if it worked only once weekly, it would be worth it. I cannot wait to try this out on my Dell at work, in my office. To sync up all three systems would simply be unreal. I appreciate y'all sharing this.
Well, I gotta tell ya'll... this is the most amazing thing I have encountered for a web browser. I have my office computer, my home MAC with Firefox OS 10, and Parallels XP, all talking with the same bookmarks. I just ***knew*** that if I posted this subject, that I would get some solutions. Thank you, everyone. This is simply amazing...
I'm a new Parallels user and I installed Firefox in my VM and then installed the Google Browser Sync plug-in. That went fine. However, the next time I used the VM, Firefox acted like it was the first time I ever booted into it (i.e. it asked me if I wanted to import my bookmarks from IE) and the Google plug-in was nowhere to be found. Any ideas on what happened?
