I just thought I'd post this, because it took some hunting and pecking on the forums to piece it together.

I had a setup (MacBookPro 2.6G, 4G RAM, no Bootcamp partition) whereby I had installed Parallels first (with Windows XP), and later on, installed a Verizon UM150 USB tethering modem, which I had assigned it's own network configuration. Thus, the Parallels ports for that network config weren't installed, and thus I couldn't even get Parallels to boot when I was in that network config (I got a message saying that Parallels couldn't connect to the "unknown" device and that I had to add another network adapter, which didn't work when I tried it). Anyway, I saw posts that said I had to reinstall Parallels because the Parallels NAT didn't work (it didn't even exist in my case), but this wasn't going to happen since had too much custom config stuff on the XP side. Here's how I got it to work:

In the Network pane, I added two connections (en2 an en3). These were like the ones Parallels installed in the other network configs. I didn't modify these connections, just added them (they should read "configure: using DHCP") I then went to the Sharing pane (which previously was unselectable), and selected the "internet sharing" line, and then chose "National Access - BroadbandAccess" (the port for the Verizon USB modem), and under "to computers using" I chose "en2". I then clicked the box on "Internet Sharing", and hit "start".

Both dots went green on the en2 and en3 ports. I started Parallels, and IE and Firefox both worked on the Windows XP side. Simple!

I hope this helps. If it's Department of Redudancy Dept., because somebody posted it somewhere else and I missed it, just let me know.
