Something went haywire while I was in Parallels and it has hosed up the Mac side of things, such that I cannot get Finder to launch. I tried to force quit Parallels but nothing happens. Have also turned machine off several times but no help there either. I cannot get access to the Mac Terminal or any disk. Suggestions?? fillbert
Not sure Parallels can affect Terminal and other apps, Try to perform disk verify (fsck) in single user mode http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1417
If you keep having problems with freezing apps, the chances are that your operating system is such a mess that the only solution is to erase and reinstall it. I've never heard about this issue, what if you try to quit the application with shortcuts like Command+Option+Escape or try to kill it with "Activity Monitor"? It's basically the same thing, but it might work. More instructions https://www.cleverfiles.com/help/force-quit-mac.html
