First, I paid $79.99 for Parallels 3 - I was told there was no college student discount, but I have found a discount on the Parallels site through the forums. Another year later I have to pay $46.98 to have Parallels 4. I was able to connect to the internet with Parallels 3, and now I'm completely unable to with 4. I've searched the forums, posted by own thread, received some advice, but nothing seemed to help. Parallels is extremely slow, even though I've freed up hard drive space and RAM. I'm running this on a white Macbook 13.3 inch from 2007...I know it's no Macbook Pro, but I really should be able to start up Parallels without dreading it! It takes 15 seconds for the start menu to pop up when I click on it, I can't run Excel, even games are slow. I never had this problem prior to upgrading to Parallels 3 - is there any way I can go back to 3? Any suggestion on how to make it faster? I'm aware my computer could be getting old, I may need more RAM, etc., but what are some things in the short run I can do to fix this? I want to know if anyone else has had any experiences similar to mine. Ultimately, I'm asking what I can do to force 4 to work as advertised, if it's worth upgrading to 5, and what some alternatives I have are. I'd like to download the trial, but I'm afraid.
