    Hi all,

I'm a registered owner of Parallels Desktop 6 for Mac and I'm running it on OS X 10.6.4 with all latest updates etc applied. The guest OS is Windows 7 Ultimate that also has all latest patches applied.

I'm trying to run some old Windows games from Oddworld - Abe's Odyssey and Abe's Exodus. Both work fine on my Windows 7 laptop.

When I run them on the VM I can see the game in the thumbnail for the Windows 7 VM in the main Parallels window but the screen of the VM itself is nothing but black. If I change the games' executable so that it's forced to run in 640x480 w/ 256 colours I then see the Oddworld opening title and then nothing else, although the thumbnail shows that the game itself is running. If I squint real hard I can see the 'cursor' moving around inside the game's menu. That tells me the game itself is running but the display is failing.

I've tried all combinations of running the game as administrator, disabling aero themes and visual themes etc, 256 colours, 640x480 mode, VM emuluation mode for Windows 95 all the way up to Windows 7 but they all exhibit the same problem i.e. a black display.

I found a forum a while ago that said these games work fine but I'm unable to find it now - not sure why.

Can any help me figure out why this would be?

    Thanks!

Try disabling 3D acceleration in Virtual Machine -> Configure -> Hardware -> Video.

I've already tried that - should have said so in the original post, sorry. I've also made sure DirectX has been updated to the latest relevant version.
