I am using the most updated version of parallels. I have a 2009 Mac Book Pro with mavericks and win XP as my virtual Machine.

I use a video camera called an HVX200 that stores to P2 cards. I have a duel Adapter fro Duel Systems that allows me to plug into the express card slot and read the card. Duel did not upgrade the drivers beyond Leopard. Anyway, I am trying to get Win XP to see the adapter. I don't think it wants to see the express card. I have installed the drivers for XP for the duel adapter and have also installed the drivers from Panasonic for the P2 reader.

I have looked through preferences and I can't seem to find any way to tell Parallels/WinXP to see the express ard and its contents?

In the win task bar I have an icon for p2 and duel, so I assume the drivers have been installed. When I start winXP it wants to look for and install software for a PCI device. Even with the duel install disc, the install wizard just locks up.

Any thoughts? Do you need more into?

Nelson May P2 cards, Dual adapter with win XP on parallels on a mac?
by Nelson May on Jun 11, 2012 at 9:24:14 pm

Here is a long shot. I have an early 2009 MBP. I don't have my camera with me because I am on location until the weekend. I have OSX Lion. I also have an HVX200.

Has anyone tried to use the Duel adapter via parallels and a Win OS?

I can't use the duel anymore without restarting my back to an HD with Leopard to import P2 data.

Can I hook the Duel and P2 card up to win xp inside parallels and copy my contents to an external drive and then ingest them into FCP?

    Long shot or reality?

    Thanks in advance.

I may try to hook this configuration up later next week when I have my camera.

Sounds like a long shot but might work. You can load drivers into WinXP running under Parallels and you can give the VM direct access to USB devices (somewhere in Parallels preferences). Unfortunately the only way to know for sure is to test it or find someone else who has.

Personally I'd just get the PCD2 (unless you need to ingest two cards at once) which does work flawlessly under newer OSX versions.
