    Nope, all standard stuff, nothing fancy (Windows 7 is in x64 mode, which is possibly not fully supported on this older Mac Pro, I'll reinstall in x86 mode and try one last time).

    No crash, I always get the dreaded "Missing operating system: message, which is obviously wrong

    How are your partitions setup? Use "diskutil list" and "sudo fdisk /dev/disk#" in Terminal.app. Also include the information about the disk from System Profiler (you can copy and paste from there) which will give the model numbers of the hard disk which Parallels shows in the Hard Disk configuration.
