Ever since I've upgraded to PD8, my system (10.7.5, MBP 15, mid-2010) has been hanging quite often when resuming from sleep. Also my Windows 7 VM seems to have crashed often too (restarting gives me a chkdsk screen and it's rebooted). I think I've finally figured out the cause. Initially I was quite impressed at how quickly PD8 would exit when you click "Quit Parallels Desktop" (I'm using Cohenernce). Except it didn't really exit at all. Now I open up Activity Monitor and wait for the "Parallels VM" process to actually exit before putting my machine to sleep. Has been much more stable. Looks like putting it to sleep while Parallels was still shutting down was causing the hanging. Hope this helps someone else that might have been having similar issues.
