The last two days have been a total disaster and I am thinking of ditching my MBP (after 24 years of nothing but Macs) and getting a PC. I am running Windows 7 on my mid 2010 MBP, 2.6 ghz, 8g ram. I trustingly installed the latest parallels update (Build 8.0.18305) on Tuesday this week and suddenly Dragon Naturally Speaking v12, a seriously critical work tool in my business, wouldn't open any more, the error message saying that serious problem had occurred and I should try reinstalling it. After 4 attempted re-intsallations of DNS 12, I gave up and created a new VM today, with the intention of installing DNS on it. The new VM worked fine. No problem. The default hard drive size was 64gig, expanding disk. I re-sized it to 80 gig and turned off the expanding option. The expansion took 2.5 hours, which I thought was weird. Since expanding the hard drive, the new VM refuses to connect to the new HD and I am getting the following error message: "A file or device required for the operation of Hard Disk 1 does not exist or is used by another process, or you have no permission to access it. The virtual machine will continue running, but the device will be disconnected." Can anyone, please, suggest what is going on here with the suddenly inaccessible hard drive?
