I had to reformat my Mac the other day, and after having the entire Mac side reinstalled, I moved back over the full Windows XP.pvm file (~46 GB) containing my virtual machine. When trying to start the VM, Windows XP starts to load, but a blue screen pops up for a split second, then the VM restarts, and this happens repeatedly. Starting in Safe Mode also does not work and produces the same result. Opening the .vpm package contents, I do see the winxp.hdd file, which is about 44 GB. Double-clicking on it opens the Parallels tool to mount the hdd file, and I can see all my files and folders inside there, so all the data seems to be fine. I have tried creating a new VM with the regular Wizard, choosing that I'll be setting up Windows XP, and choosing Existing Image File for Hard Disk options, and choosing the .hdd file inside of the old .vpm. I even made a copy of the .hdd file outside of the old .vpm, and tried selecting that separate copy of the .hdd file, but still to no avail. Like I said, the .hdd file doesn't seem to be corrupted, I'm just having a hard time getting the VMs to recognize it properly. I also tried booting the original VM off a Windows XP CD to try to Repair the installation. After booting off the CD, pressing Enter to continue an installation, normally the partitions are shown and the existing Windows installation would be detected, allowing me to press R to attempt to repair the detected installation. However, it shows a 40,580 MB partition with 40,580 MB free and prompts me to install a new copy to that partition. So it's not picking up on the correct winxp.hdd. In the Configuration of the VM, there is only one Hard Disk listed and it is pointing to the correct winxp.hdd file, but apparently refuses to boot off it. I have read a few people mentioning creating a new VM with No Hard Disk, and then adding the .hdd file later in the Configuration window, so I can try this next when I have a chance....but when doing this, should the .hdd be moved inside the new .pvm? Will it get moved/copied automatically? Does it matter? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
