Whenever I am in Windows 8 under PD8, there is no obvious background HDD activity, but, the minute I go back into OS X, the HDD just starts thrashing away and doesn't stop till I switch back into W8. This is very annoying. Any ideas?
had same problem went under utilities / activity monitor and found a couple of things were eating the CPU %. Looked them up and found that a couple of programs were looping causing crash/reboot. Looked them up and followed the instrustions found and fixed it. It depends what the program is that is causing the increased activity as what the fix is. Google what is eating the CPU and hopefully you will fix it.
