This build has been nothing but problems for me. Can't use networking, can't adjust display settings (stuck on 640x480, 4bit), can't use my VPN, can't access the internet, can't print, can't install Parallel Tools... nothing works! Can someone tell me where to find (and how to install) a previous build? Everything worked perfectly until last night... when I installed 1970. HELP! HELP!
drewboo, What was you previous build? Why can't you install Parallels Tools? Did you tried to reboot your Mac OS X?
I found a 1966 build I had saved, so I uninstalled 1970 and reinstalled 1966 (my previous version). Everything back to normal, EXCEPT... I cannot maintain a network connection. When I first start the VM, everything is fine. Then, if I start Explorer (or fire up my VPN, or start anything that "engages" the network/internet), I lose connectivity in a few seconds. I have rebooted/restarted many times... but to no avail. Please help! I leave for the east coast tomorrow morning!!!!
It is very strange because there are no significant changes between 1966 and 1970 at all... Please try to install 1970 again, reboot, start VM, update tools. Do not forget to backup your HDD image please before any actions.
Okay... done... but no-go. I guess I may be mistaken with my previous build. Can you provide a link to build 1940? Or perhaps the last version without shared networking.
I downloaded and reinstalled build 1940... and reinstalled Parallels Tools... but Networking and printing still don't work. Please advise. How do I correct this?? Everything was working PERFECTLY until I "upgraded".
I suggest you to upgrade back to 1970, reboot Mac OS X, load VM configuration and change networking mode to "Shared networking" in VM configuration->Network Adapter. It should fix networking for you.
When I first ran the install I barely noticed that the final message from the installer was that the install did NOT complete successfully. I re-ran it about 5 times with the same result. The problem, for me, was coming from starting the install from Path Finder instead of the Finder (where it succeeded). I suspect that many users run the install and never notice the message that it did not complete correctly. It seems to install the files just fine, but the script throws an error towards the end of the process. Once it is installed properly, however, I did not find any problems. The Cisco VPN and the like seemed to work properly even when going over bridged Airport connections. I recommended a re-install 1970 and watch the message at the end to make sure it succeeded. Also check your [OS X] disk for errors either before (preferred) or after the install. Make sure to install the new Parallels tools (manual invoke from the OS X Parallels menu).
