I completely redid my bootcamp after converting to NTFS for 3039 to work.
Bootcamp windows works fine, has all the updates...etc.
When i try to launch parallels I loose keyboard and mouse function which leaves me locked up. I can get my mouse back for OSX but can not interact with window/parallels.

I can get into safe mode inside parallels off boot camp partition, but again no keyboard and mouse. So atleast initially I get some keyboard and mouse just not I need it.

    Any suggestions?

I do see where parallels, creates the parallels config during the VM boot of bootcamp partition, but it seems I have a driver issue or something.

    Please help.

I really like this software and don't want to have create a non boot camp partition.

Well, I know what caused the problem, but I don't know how to fix it... Only reason I know is because I did the same thing :(

If you installed the new beta without uninstalling Parallels Tools for Boot Camp while booted under Boot Camp, this appears to be the outcome. I have tried messing with the Boot.ini and hardware profiles for hours trying to get my Boot Camp partition bootable again to no avail.

I REALLY wish that Parallels would have included this little memo in the Read Me on the DMG or on the Installer notes. They made this note on the download page, but that doesn't help those of us who hit the link through VersionTracker or MacUpdate.

Has someone had any luck recovering from this error?

Parallels, is it possible to recovery from this mistake? If so, can you tell us what we need to do? Or even at least tell us what the newest beta did to cause this to happen so we might figure out a resolution on our own? I know it is explicitly stated not to use the betas in a production environment, but we end users generally expect application usability issues in these scenarios--not unbootable partitions.

    Any help would be appreciated.

    TIA

The difference is I never installed the tools. I had a completely virgin windows xp boot camp install. That is the confusing part. After the several attempts to get parallels to run off boot camp, I then tried to mess with the tools. But never got the tools to install.

So I still don't know what is going on.

    Please help or provide suggestions.

only two problems with Parellels for Newbies

too much memory slows it down

    with 2 gb macBook pro
1gb each runs much slower than 750 mb for Parallels

immediately after installing and opwneing WinXP for the first time
you MUST repeat MUST install parallels tools

the latest Beta enabled Windows to "find new hardware"

    always cancell that dialog
and install Parallels tools which has custom drivers for the Intel Macs

    ===

THEN I install freebie securty stuff
    AVG antevirus
McCaffee fire wall - free to AOL users

I cannot live without the google tool bar and blog this button :)

    Adaware
    http://majorgeeks.com/download.php?id=31
    Spyware blaster
    http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/
    also allows you to customize
IE Wondow Titl text - check for updates now 7030 items in database
    lastly Spybot - Search & Destroy 1.4
    http://www.safer-networking.org/

just because it is a VM does not excuse bad house keeping with WinXP Sp2

older vesions of windows risk bing hijcaked within minutes on some networks

I have started using Parellels Menu >> Actions > > Suspend

instead of shutting down windows manually
which opens in about 7 seconds and runs truly in about 20 to 30 seconds

good luck and enjoy your TWO in ONE machines
