    Hello,

I had to have my hard drive replaced by Apple. I reinstalled Parallels but my activation key doesn't work now. My original version was from 2006 and I kept upgrading as new versions came out.

However, I have a full backup of my old hard drive. Can you tell me what files I need to copy over from the Library folder or where ever they are so that I can get this to work again?

    Thanks,

    Jeff Kazules

I'm in a similar situation. I might want to move my Parallels installation from my laptop to my desktop in the near future. I see no way to 'de-activate' my installation in order to perform the move.

Should I also get in touch with Order Support?

    Hello,

if you want to copy your VM to another Mac, you should go "Macintosh HD > Documents > Parallels". There you can find a folder with your Guest OS. You should just simply copy this folder to your another Mac.
At the same time if you want to use your old key for Parallels Desktop for your new Mac, you must first uninstall Parallels Desktop on your old Mac, and only then you can install Parallels Desktop on your new Mac using your old key.

    Best regards,
    Stacey

Thanks Stacey. Not sure yet whether I will move Parallels, but knowing that un-installing it will indeed free up the activation ready for the other machine is good to know.
