"I have a Macbook with 10.4.11 (Tiger). Parallels Desktop and Windows XP are loaded. Windows sees the Parallels network interface and internet connection (through the Mac's wireless connection), but I can't access the internet using Internet Explorer in Windows. I can using Safari on the Mac OS." Thank you.
Put here ifconfig -a from Terminal on Mac OS side ipconfig /all from Windows side And what is network settings for VM?
I'm not sure where to find these things. I am trying to learn. you said "network settings for VM" is this what you mean....In the FM configuration, network adaptor, I have Bridged Ethernet, then Device Status I have Enabled and Connect cable at startup marked. ipconfig/all from Windows side....My son suggested going to the Start menu choose Run. Type in "cmd" and enter, then type "ipconfig/all" and enter. But all it said then was "Windows IP Configuration" ipconfig-a from Terminal on Mac OS side...can you please tell me where to find this Please be patient with me as I do want to resolve my problem. Thank you.
ipconfig /all - your son's suggestion is correct ifconfig -a in Terminal from Applications/Utilities VM settings - start Parallels Desktop holding Command key -Configuration Editor- Network Adapter 1
ok, here goes.. When i do the ipconfig /all in Windows it says "Windows IP Configuration" and then nothing else On the Mac side the ifconfig -a says: Last login: Fri Oct 3 15:05:55 on console Welcome to Darwin! marilyn-goldens-computer-2:~ marilyn$ ifconfig -a lo0: flags=8049<UP,LOOPBACK,RUNNING,MULTICAST> mtu 16384 inet6 ::1 prefixlen 128 inet6 fe80::1%lo0 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x1 inet 127.0.0.1 netmask 0xff000000 gif0: flags=8010<POINTOPOINT,MULTICAST> mtu 1280 stf0: flags=0<> mtu 1280 en0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 ether 00:19:e3:63:23:76 media: autoselect status: inactive supported media: autoselect 10baseT/UTP <half-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 10baseT/UTP <full-duplex,flow-control> 100baseTX <half-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex> 100baseTX <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 100baseTX <full-duplex,flow-control> 1000baseT <full-duplex> 1000baseT <full-duplex,hw-loopback> 1000baseT <full-duplex,flow-control> none en1: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::219:e3ff:fed4:177f%en1 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x5 inet 192.168.1.101 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 192.168.1.255 ether 00:19:e3:d4:17:7f media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect wlt1: flags=41<UP,RUNNING> mtu 1500 fw0: flags=8863<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 2030 lladdr 00:19:e3:ff:fe:25:20:22 media: autoselect <full-duplex> status: inactive supported media: autoselect <full-duplex> en2: flags=8963<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::201:23ff:fe45:6789%en2 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x8 inet 10.37.129.2 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.37.129.255 ether 00:01:23:45:67:89 media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect en3: flags=8963<UP,BROADCAST,SMART,RUNNING,PROMISC,SIMPLEX,MULTICAST> mtu 1500 inet6 fe80::210:32ff:fe54:7698%en3 prefixlen 64 scopeid 0x9 inet 10.211.55.2 netmask 0xffffff00 broadcast 10.211.55.255 ether 00:10:32:54:76:98 media: autoselect status: active supported media: autoselect marilyn-goldens-computer-2:~ marilyn$ VM settings - in the Configuration Editor, Network Adapter: Network Adapter Options Device Status I have Enabled and Connect cable at startup marked. Connect network adapter to virtual Machine See how to add devices in Parallels Desktop for Mac user guide from http://www.parallels.com/en/download/file/doc/Parallels_Desktop_for_Mac_User_Guide.pdf page 189
Ok I'm having the same issues as the original poster and the reply messages are not helping AT ALL. I have added the network adapter and I still have no connectivity. Does anyone else out there have some step by step tips on how to get the internet up and running in windows XP with a wireless connection on a mac book pro? Thanks
When I put in the ipconfig /all it says "Windows IP Configuration" and that's it. I have reread through the Users Guide again. I changed the networking option from Bridged Ethernet to Shared Networking. Was this correct? This computer is in another room and using wireless connection to the internet and printer. The connections on the MAC side work fine. I can't get the printer to work on the Windows side either, have been trying Bonjour, but that can be another day. Thanks, I await your next instructions. johlde
I did that but can't figure out how to get it to this place. I tried copy and paste and that didn't work, dragging didn't work, what is the trick? thanks
I'm going out of town for a week, so when I return I'll get back to this. I don't know how to zip or upload so I'll try and get that figured out. thanks
