How do I upgrade 2X ApplicationServer 9 to XG

    Hi. I have 2x Application Server 9 with license. Mi license expired on October 5 of 2011.

    Can I renew mi license by version 9 or I have to buy a new license and install the new XG?

    Can I upgrade of verson 9 to XG only uninstall version 9 and install XG?

    Hi Mario,

    it is probably better if you contact 2X Sales directly for this kind of queries.
    In order to upgrade you need and Upgrade insurance. With the upgrade insurance you then simply need to test v10 in your test environment just to see that everything works as it should. Once, ready, what is normally recommended for upgrades, is to export and save your settings somewhere safe, run the installer of v10 on top of the existing v9, and everything should be fine; once the console has been upgraded, you can then upgrade from there everything else.
    But as I said at the very beginning, check with sales if everything is ok for you to upgrade.

    Since there were major changes and new features implemented in 2xAS XG, to be sure, you should upgrade in two steps.

    1. First export your settings (File -> Export settings) although they will be kept during the upgrade.
    2. Make sure no user is connected, there is no open session anymore.
    3. Upgrade from 9 to 10.
    Older Versions you can find here (http://downloads.2x.com/#appserver).

    With regards to the 2xClients, they don't have to be updated in the same time. Even with the older clients it will work.
    However be aware when it comes to particular features of the RDP protocol it might not working as long as the clients are older. Background is that the older client used a older RDP version then the new 2xServer.

    Also please make sure that you have the upgrade insurance else you can't upgrade to the latest version. If you want send an email to sales@2x.com to verify with the Sales Department.
