how to get free upgrade licence & ether to renew

Can anyone help answer some really basic questions please ? (amazingly Parallels company doesnt seem to understand that some human users prefer to contact technical support rather than issue a general message on a forum)

1) 363 days ago I bought a new version of parallels which had unlimited free upgrades. I have registered the product licence but cannot get an upgrade link - 2 days left so any helpful quick reply would be useful

2) is it necessary to me to renew the licence, or have I bought the right to use parallels for ever (without upgrades after the 1st year). I dont want to keep paying them again & again unnecessarily.
