I'm having problems and looking to see if anyone can help. I have a Mac Pro (Leopard 10.5.4), Boot Camp 2.1 and XP SP2 running in it. I boot into XP and run the XP SP3 installer, it errors with:

"The core system file (kernel) used to start this computer is not a Microsoft Windows file. The Service Pack will not be installed. For more information, see Knowledge Base article Q327101 at http://support.microsoft.com"

I also run Parallels (latest build) so I can run XP within OS X at times. Is Parallels causing the problem because it has modified the boot file? How do I fix this? or should I be installing SP3 from within Parallels? I heard somewhere I shouldn't do this.

    thanks.
