If I don't connect my optical mouse explicitly via "devices", then my middle mouse button does not work. However, if I connect it via "devices", the middle button works - but the problem is that I cannot get consistant behavior when trying to unconnect the mouse:

Sometimes the option+alt shortcut (when in Windows) works, but often it does not. So when trying to get back to Mac OS, I need to use my trackpad to either exit Windows via the Windows menu on the Mac, or by simply swiping to my other desktop. But then when I'm back in Mac OS, the external mouse then does not work.

What is the workflow to, with as little effort as possible, connect my USB mouse to Windows when I'm in Windows, then unconnect it so that it can use the same mouse to switch back to Mac OS, then have the mouse function in Mac OS?

I am running Windows 7 64 bit using Parallels on Mac OS 10.10.5
