How to turn HDD removed from physical machine into a virtual machine?

Discussion in 'Installation and Configuration of Parallels Desktop' started by Parallels User, Aug 7, 2008.

  1. I'm attempting to help my sister with a problem. Her Windows laptop power connector has gone bad and now will not power on. Her hard drive is fine. She wants to get an iMac and run her Windows drive as a virtual machine under Parallels Desktop while she converts her WordPerfect and other files for use on the Mac. So since she cannot use the Windows drive any longer in her old Windows laptop, how can she convert the entire Windows drive (OS and all) for use under Parallels? Thank you.

Try to connect it as USB device and during boot hold Option key, if Mac detects it you can use it as Boot Camp, and then under Parallels create Boot Camp VM
